Word of the Week

Monroe Public Schools' Word of the Week aims to unite school and community through vocabulary enrichment. Each week a new word is released through the schools and community. This year's focus is on words that promote kindness.

Each year the Nutmeg Committee selects 10 books that are well-written, with strong characterization, vivid setting, striking language, well-constructed plot, and a plausible conclusion. Feel free to browse the list of 2021 winners and 2022 nominees! Which book do you think will win?
